Queensway Careers Programme
Our students are entitled to a career programme that offers personalised activities and support for all students from Years 7 to 11. Using the Gatsby Benchmarks as a guide, these opportunities will be delivered through:
- LifeSkills/Social Ed Lessons
- Extra-Curricular Opportunities
- Employer Encounters
- Workplace Experiences
With the support of Kim Hodgetts [Programme Manager for Youth Unemployment & Enterprise Co-ordinator] and our newly appointed Enterprise Advisor Sue Bishop [Head of Change Manager from ReAssure] we have completed the Compass evaluation and are now developing a broad and structured career programme that, with the on-going support of Vicki Abbot [Careers Advisor from FutureFocus], will cater to the needs of all our students and inspire and motivate them towards making the best, and well-informed choices as they move into post-16 education or training.
Local providers are welcomed into school and their valuable contributions are integrated into school programmes, such as LifeSkills and Social Ed. However, in compliance with Section 42B of the Education Act 1997, we are also happy to receive requests from FE Colleges, training, apprenticeships, employers and vocational educational providers to speak to students and share information about their education or training offers. Providers are welcome to leave their prospectus or other relevant course literature with us via the school reception. A provider wishing to request access, subject to our safeguarding policy, should contact us to make arrangements regarding facilities and appropriate times.
