Mr Steve Cooper

Welcome to Maths

Within the Maths Department at Queensway. We offer a large range of opportunities and resources to allow all students to achieve progress and extend their mathematical skills.
The Department’s aim is to ensure that all students maximise their potential and enjoy learning in mathematics lessons.
Various teaching methods are used including online courses, practical lessons exploring mathematical proofs and games to extend learning, social interaction and real life scenarios.

The skills offered through the curriculum will enable learners:

  • to apply their knowledge and understanding to everyday life
  • to engage capably and positively with others
  • to solve problems in both familiar and unfamiliar situations
  • to feel safe, secure and enjoy their learning in Maths

Entry Level Certificate

Where students are unable to follow the National Curriculum they may follow an alternative pathway that will allow them to focus on the core topics by completing the Entry Level Certificate pathway and Pearsons Access to Foundation in Year 10 or 11.
